The airbrush is a specially-shaped Wacom Intuos stylus with the usual 1024 level-sensitivity mechanism and standard stylus tip, plus eraser on the rear end. Intuos 1 and 2 tablets have their own airbrushes Graphire tablets are not supported. My particular model is a Wacom Intuos 3 airbrush, compatible with all Intuos 3 and Cintiq tablets. I my teens and early 20's I was seriously into airbrush art, and though I was no Phillip Castle, I was fairly proficient I used a double-action independent DeVilbiss Aerograph Super 63a for general work, a double-action fixed Conopois F for large area coverage, and a right-handed Paasche AB turbo for fine work.)Ī 3/4 view of the Wacom Intuos 3 airbrush, showing the standard stylus tip, the control wheel and button on top, and eraser tip on the end. These days I use Intuos 3 gear on a Mac, Adobe Illustrator CS3, Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Corel Painter X.

(So you can know whether to trust my opinions, here's where I'm coming from: I'm a professional comic artist and colourist and for about eight years I've been drawing and "painting" using a Wacom tablet. Now I've been lucky enough to receive one as a gift, I thought I'd take the chance to show what it is and what it does, so that anyone thinking of paying for one can make an informed decision. This baroque device has fascinated me ever since I saw its ancestor in the catalogue that came with my first Intuos 1 tablet back in 1999 but between the additional cost (at £100-110, about £40 more than a standard stylus in the UK) and complete lack of information on what the thing actually did, I never seriously considered buying one.

Through an unexpected series of events I find myself the proud owner of a Wacom Intuos 3 airbrush. My computer is an HP Envy x360 laptop, Windows 10 of course.Bottom: a 1984 Devilbiss Aerograph Super 63 airbrush. In the Device Manager panel the tablet is listed under Human Interface Devices, and I know because it says "Wacom Tablet" at the bottom of the list.

I tried some online advice from people with similar problems, which was to uninstall the wacom tablet driver and the device driver, restart, reinstall the drivers by looking it up on their site, run the download, restart, and then set up the tablet again.Īll this accomplished was bringing the pressure settings back in krita. On my desktop if I hover over something with the pen, it drags it around until I tap on empty space multiple times with it.Using the pen on non-installed programs such as Microsoft edge internet and then immediately switching to my mouse makes the mouse's left click act like a right click until I right click on something I have to retell my mouse which button is the right. In photoshop, the pen pressure works there, but it is interrupted almost immediately by a brush size and hardness pop-up box making drawing impossible. The history, layers, and pen pressure panel, it will always revert back to history) If I press down on any surface that isn't the canvas or scroll bar, it will either act like a right click or, if on a button, it will either not register the click or it will but within a fraction of a second revert immediately back to another button. If I just hover over my canvas, it will zoom in all the way.If I press down on the scroll bar, it will merely stop the scrolling until I let go.And whenever I hover over, say, a scroll bar it will shift to the left all on its own.Suddenly the pen pressure was completely gone, as in nothing will come out at all, in my preferred art program Krita. It had been working fine for about a couple of years until now.
